Confessional in a way that leans a little too far into messy-diary-entry territory for me. I appreciate the candid, painful sincerity this collection radiates in its expression of heartbreak and grief, but most of the poems here felt either clumsily heavy-handed or banal in their simplicity. As gently and inoffensively as possible, this seemed very much like Instagram poetry—accessible and no doubt deeply felt, but unchallenging in both a technical and material sense.
