4.5

With a book this popular, I had very high expectations… and they were met.

The first three chapters had me hooked. Although, three chapters in this book was close to six or seven pages.

The description of the family painted a vivid picture of stereotypical large, rich families. Alas, the Sinclairs had their good moments as well as their snooty ones.

The writing style peeved me because
quite a few
sentences
were
written in this way,
and
it
went on
and on
and
on.

Because of this, the book also went by a bit faster. I read it within 24-hours and still recall many of the events that took place.

Around the middle of the book cursing became more frequent and it seemed as if every other page had an f-bomb. It wasn’t even an exclamation out of surprise or excitement, it was just written into the middle of a sentence.

I will say that the plot twist is the best I’ve ever seen. Occasionally, these things are expected but this one came out of left field and hit me in the face.

Overall, I give We Were Liars 4.5⭐️

10/10 would recommend as a mystery, drama, and quick read.
