Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer

3.0

Midnight Sun is a Twilight retelling from Edward's POV. I wish that we'd gotten more new content - things that Edward did without Bella - but I should have expected that it would be mostly the same as the original. The parts that we did get that were new, mostly parts from Edward's past and Edward did while Bella was in Phoenix, was interesting enough to make it worth reading this book. I also enjoyed getting to read everyone's thoughts as things were happening too. The insta-love worked a lot better from Edward's POV than it did from Bella's. He's a lot less dramatic about it. He's a lot more concerned about the mechanics of a human/vampire relationship. I'd read the first draft back when it was leaked, so it was nice to read the remaining two-thirds of the book after all these years.  A caveat to the three-star rating, I'd only recommend it to those with Twilight nostalgia.
