“When a monster is a monster he’s being true to his nature. When a human is a monster it’s far worse.”

Midian Unmade - Tales Of Clive Barker’s Nightbreed is an anthology featuring 23 stories which revisit some memorable characters in the most infamous place where the Nightbreed belong, Midian. These stories take a look at the lives of these monsters who are trying to figure out how they will survive after the events of Cabal. Some of these take place before that novel and many after.

Featured are a variety of not just extreme horror stories but also emotional ones which look at themes of belonging and loneliness, you feel the struggle and what it meant to the Nightbreed when Midian fell. These stories include ones written by Karl Alexander, Amber Benson, Nancy Hugo, Seanan McGuire, Weston Ochse, David J. Schow and many more. There’s also a an introduction by Clive Barker himself.

I enjoyed reading this book, it explores the story of the Nightbreed, it was interesting to see the different perspectives the authors took. A definite must read for fans of Cabal/Nightbreed.
