Mr. Greedy by Roger Hargreaves

Re-read

It can be tricky to review these classics when you grew up reading them: on the one hand, they are a source of nostalgic joy for me; on the other, sometimes looking at the story through a modern lens makes one pause.

There appears to be an element of fat shaming here, as the story makes it clear that being fat is not desirable. Should the story get a free pass, just because it was written in a different time? Honestly, that's up to you. You could easily explain to the young audience you are reading to, that being fat and being greedy are different things: although Mr. Greedy ceases to be fat at the end of the story when he stops being greedy, this does not mean all fat people are greedy.

Also the last line of the book is so absurd that I can't help but to smile.
