Too Pretty by Andrea Grigg

1.0

While originally I thought the book was cute, I had two big issues with the novel. My first issue was how Ellie went on about how hard her life was because she was "too pretty". At first I felt for Ellie, but then she doesn't stop talking about it. She goes on, and on, and on, and on. Hearing her lament her beauty made it hard to connect to the character as I would trade my flaws in an instant. And that is the problem. Most of the people who read this are going to have some body issues, so hearing again and again how she is gorgeous but hates it, doesn't endear her to the reader. This book also takes part in one of the worst clichés in books, film, and TV. The character decides to dress up and pretend to be someone else. And what happens in the end? It all comes out and blows up in their face. I hate that plot point as I find it to be unintelligent and unimaginative. I mean come on what did you think was going to happen?
