A fitting finale to the trilogy begun in Oryx and Crake (which I am now rereading.) These books are not for the squeamish or faint of heart -- raw language, violence, etc. -- just as you'd expect from a dystopian society of the not too distant future. Together the three books paint an uncomfortably perceptive account of what life on earth might be like if global warming, genetic engineering and corporate exploitation of the populace should continue unchecked. I wasn't sure if this series could conclude on anything resembling a hopeful note -- but surprisingly, it does.
