I generally prefer whichever edition has the prettiest cover, which in the case of Circe by Madeline Miller is both the paperback and hardcover editions! However, while the books are beautiful and I love the concept, the book overall wasn’t my favorite. I enjoyed the plot and I found the exploration of relationships between mortals and immortals to be successful and compelling, but overall the writing didn’t captivate me. Still, if you enjoy mythology retellings that focus on giving a detailed story to peripheral characters, then Circe is still worth a read.
