The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, Vol. 11: Call Your Squirrelfriend by Naomi Franquiz, Erica Henderson, Ryan North, Rico Renzi, Derek Charm

4.0

You always know what you're going to get with Ryan North's Squirrel Girl! Puns and fun facts and fast-paced, upbeat humor. I admit I've stopped reading every single mini-aside at the bottom of the page, and it hurts a little, but it makes the reading more enjoyable because I'm not stopping as much. I can go back and read the commentary track after.

Two stories in this volume, one a time-travel romp with Kang the Conqueror and three ages of Squirrel Girl. The second was a longer story involving Frost Giants taking over Canada. "MOoooom what did you do with my arctic variant uniform?!"

Highlights for me were definitely Monkey Joe, the Original Squirrel in the time travel one, and Frost Giants Discuss Their Favorite Kind of Frost. "Rime isn't even really frost!"

Actually, I loved all the parts where the frost giants were doing things Faceless Villains rarely do - like flirting with each other or playing Frost Ball.

And not to spoil things, but as usual Squirrel Girl comes up with the perfect non-violent solution to the problem!

Bonus Loki sightings. He really has a thing for Nancy now?
