The Accidental Further Adventures of the Hundred-Year-Old Man: A Novel by Jonas Jonasson

4.0

It’s a 3.5 rounded up. I really loved the humour and the kafkaesque storytelling in the first one so, naturally, I had to read the second one! And although I have to say that I enjoyed the first one more - more dry humour - this one was a very pleasant read as well. In his books Jonas Jonasson manages to grasp the zeitgeist of the time the 101 year old lives in beautifully - and with the sequel being set in 2017, it is not only relatable but brings back memories and made me think about how I experienced that particular year. I loved the commentary on politics and how the author portrayed what was going on in the world at the time. Definitely recommend to anyone who loves Jonas Jonasson’s style of writing and enjoys the odd slap of dark, dry humour. Lovely read for cozy autumn nights
