A collection of short stories organized chronologically, Tales of the Celestial Kingdom takes place before, during, and after Sue Lynn Tan’s Celestial Kingdom duology. This collection preserves some of my favorite aspects of the original books—the beautiful, sweeping scope of Tan’s writing, tangible emotional ache threaded through every action—while diving deeper into other events and POVs. There’s even a short story taking place after the series ends, and I thought my heart would burst while reading it. I only read an e-ARC, but even in that form the accompanying artwork was breathtakingly stunning—I want each of them as a print in my house!

Though this short story collection wouldn’t make much sense on its own, it’s a must read for fans of Daughter of the Moon Goddess and Heart of the Sun Warrior
