The Cursed Carnival and Other Calamities: New Stories About Mythic Heroes, by Rick Riordan

2.0

A collection of short stories of young-adult fiction in the mold, as suggested by Rick Riordan being the editor, of his Percy Jackson series - using old mythic heroes and telling new stories. The range of stories is impressive, touching on various mythologies for jumping off points. The reading was easy, as I supposed young adult should be, but the reading experience was just okay for me (hence the 2 stars). It felt at times that certain stories was trying to hard with the dialogue to be funny. Perhaps this just means I am too old for it.

In any event, I can definitely see how some will really enjoy these stories, but ultimately the writing, and thus the book, was just not for me.
