Decent page turner if a little convoluted at times.
3.5 overall for the two Chronicle of the fallers books. I think you need to have read the first, the abyss beyond dreams, to really enjoy this second one. Probably not essential but there is a fair overlap and I’d recommend you read that one first.
I’ve not read any of the other commonwealth books and wasn’t confused so you don’t need to have read any others to follow this one
