Adoring Abigail by Chalon Linton

4.0

This was a sweet, enjoyable read. It was slow at first, but then all of a sudden there were some very fun scenes and interesting plots that interweaved together! The scene at the "picnic" was so imaginative and fun, and that was where I began to be truly invested in the book.

Abigail was sweet and understandable, and Robert was a great hero. I loved that their affection for each other was clear from the start but took some time to truly develop. But along with that time came one thing that I didn't quite understand. Mr. Mead was such an insistent character in so many ways, but he let their courtship continue for far longer than I would have expected.

The conflict in the end did not seem horribly insurmountable, but it was perfectly weighted because the rest of the book contained such a difficult life for Abigail. Plus, the Grandmother's total 180 at the end felt a little insincere, but I still appreciated it because it tied things up nicely.

And man. THAT KISS. It was written in a short and sweet way, but you could feel that it was anything but, and I loved the timing of it!! SO good.
