This book is never really drew me in.  There was not a lot of character development, in fact I never really got a feel for who the main character was. The villains motivations were also not clear at all. Be aware, this story takes places thousands of years before the well known "Star Wars: A New Hope".  If you are reading to see familiar characters, skip this novel.  I think this book was written as a kind of and intro to the "Dawn of the Jedi" comics.  As such, it ends with a cliff hanger that  will not be resolved unless you read the comics, which I am not inclined to do.  I would have liked a more satisfying less ambiguous ending.  Otherwise, the writing was okay. If you are into generic good vs evil stories, you might enjoy this.
