This is book two in “Her Irish Treasures” by Burkhart. We left book one with Riann on the bar counter, surrounded by Warwick, Doran, Aidaen, Keane, Ivarr. We saw how their relationship may work out. While moving onto the next step in their journey.
This book gave us a deeper look into each character, and their thinking. I liked watching everyone's relationships grow closer together, with every twist and turn of the book. I did feel like there was some detail missing from the story. And that some things could have been described more, adding to the story. This is an issue I noticed in the first book as well, and am starting to think it may just be the author's writing style. Which is good, I just needed more.
We got a closer look at Riann’s ex husband Johnathan. Which to be honest kinda made me sick. Jonathan was discovered to be a changeling in book one. And would make Riann suffer and torment her. Only to take away the memories and feed off of them himself. Basically he used her pain and torment like an all you can eat buffet.
Even after he traps Riann. We see how evil and mean he is. To the point he admits what he did to Warwick. This was one of the best scenes in the book. And there is a lot more to this, so it is not spoiled!
In book two each character starts acting more like a person, and develops better actions and back stories. This has proven to be a series that continues to grow and build in all ways.
