Encore in Death by J.D. Robb

4.0

Encore in Death, the latest addition to J.D. Robb's futuristic murder mystery series, is a delightful escape from reality. The intricate plot is steeped in layers of humanity, woven seamlessly into Lieutenant Eve Dallas's life. These books are such an enjoyable read, they’re half futuristic in tone & half fantasy land but it’ll for sure make you forget your woes.
The characters explored in this book are so diverse and well-crafted. This is probably the 56th book in the series & the series started way back in 1995. I have been a part of Eve’s life for so long, and after 56 books in the series, I've grown to know Eve so intimately that I can feel her emotions as if they were my own.
Though these books are more of murder mysteries than anything else, the relationship explored between Eve & her multibillionaire husband Roarke is special to witness.
This book follows the life of one such couple, both rich & famous in their own right as actor & actress, i.e., until one of them turns up dead & Eve is assigned to solve this high-profile case. The mystery takes the tantalizing form of hypocrisy, false pretenses and the desire and greed to be the center of attention.
Eve’s need to protect & serve comes through loud & strong. And as much as I am passionate about justice, Eve takes it to another level and it’s so aspiring and heartbreaking at the same time.
Eve & her gang of people have become a part of my life and I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.
