The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins

challenging dark tense medium-paced

5.0

Believe me I’ve seen the reviews, but I honestly really liked this book. I enjoyed seeing the inner workings of Snow’s brain. He starts off as someone who could potentially be like able and details as time goes on. His obsession of Lucy Gray spiraling into madness in part three was brilliant.

We go in knowing he’s a bad guy from the original trilogy yet I had to remember that they were the same person at times. The hunger games are still new and people don’t even like watching them and to see that and know what they become is interesting. I didn’t mind the pacing and the set up of the story. I found it to be an intriguing read that made me unable to put it down. I now feel a need to reread the original trilogy.
