Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret by Judy Blume

"When 11-year-old Margaret Simon moves to suburban New Jersey from New York City, she's determined to fit in, but one big barrier is that she doesn't know what religion she is. She spends her 6th-grade year trying to learn about different religions, which includes attending Jewish-holiday services with Grandma Simon and a few Christian-denomination services and events with new friends. Otherwise, she just tries to settle into her new school and neighborhood and navigate the path to young-womanhood. Through it all she talks to God and tries to figure out how--or if--He's answering her." (From Amazon)

I have read this book so many times I still remember some of the lines. A great coming of age novel. It may not be current but the feelings never change. Other than puberty and trying to fit in - I loved the journey Margaret takes into religion. She is fascinated with it as she was never raised with any particular religion. In fact it is one of the reasons her parents are in conflict with their own parents.
