Broken Things to Mend by Karey White

5.0

This was such a sweet, heartbreaking and yet hopeful story. Both characters have been through some really tragic things in their past and they are both a little shy and hesitant to trust. I loved watching their relationship develop and especially seeing Silas work at overcoming some of his shyness. So sweet! I wished at times that Celia would have been more willing to follow-up with what she left behind (trying not to give spoilers!), but at the same time I could understand why she wanted to leave it all in the past. I also wanted her to open up and trust those that were helping her, but again, with her situation I could see why she would be hesitant.
I thought the matchmaker's involvement was just right -- she was not an integral part of the story but without her, Silas and his aunt would probably not have helped Celia like they did. And I thought the ending was just perfect!
