The Meaning of Freedom by Angela Y. Davis

5.0

This was such a good book. It is understandable and thought provoking. Angela Davis is such an intelligent person and this collection of speeches is an amazing demonstration of that. It did get repetitive at times but i honestly feel that adds to the book, reiterating the same ideas with new context and wording made them stand out.

I did not necessarily expect to learn so much about 9/11 but i am glad it was in there, I wasn’t alive at the time so i often forget the impact it continues to have and i appreciate the perspective. I also appreciated the perspective on the bush administration and the election of Obama as i was too young to remember that.

This book is so well written and discusses these complex topics in ways that are easily understandable, without simplifying them in an unproductive way. I will absolutely recommend this book!
