Y'all I thought this was going to be a hot and steamy hockey romance. It's so much more than that. We get some serious mental health rep in Sweet Collide, and I loved it. Ava Harrison writes mental health in a real way. She doesn't sugar coat it, and she doesn't shy away from it. I loved how Aiden's were handled, both by Cassidy and, eventually, by him.
This was a childhood friends to lovers, and I absolutely love all the ways Aiden made sure to honor Pip (Cassidy) throughout his life. Even when he never knew if he would be able to find her or see her again. More and more ways just came out as the book wrapped up, and no one can argue that this man isn't a total softie inside.
Other things I enjoyed about this book:
- hidden identity
- found family vibes
- fake dating
- a bit of mystery
The narrators for this one really brought it to life, especially the narrator for Cassidy. Something about her voice just really fit the character for me. And the way she narrated was so much more than just her reading the book out loud. I'll definitely be looking for more books narrated by Angelina Rocca.
Thank you to Ava Harrison & Hambright PR for the gifted ALC copy.
