In my ongoing quest to find the perfect book for my niece, a friend recommended this one. I always read books I send her first to make sure my brother will be comfortable with them. Miy niece is a bit young to understand racism, so I’ll save this one maybe for next year. It was really well written, historically sensitive, had a great central character in Hanna, and captured the Little House on the Prairie field very well. Hanna is shaped by her past in how she deals with the present and how she thinks about her future. I only wish she and her dad could’ve had a relationship of better ease.
