I feel so accomplished finally finishing this book. I've had a hard time with this series because I think I was so pulled in by the hype and just wasn't in love with it. I enjoyed my time and I can see that these are objectively great books. After finishing the last published book of this series I'm beginning to appreciate it more, I think the number of pages looming over me was a little intimidating. For this one I listened to audio for about 75% of it and read the other 25.

For this book in particular, I enjoyed having a new viewpoint with Nesta. Cassian is probably my favorite character in the series so seeing a lot more of him was also great. I liked the strong female friendship and strength themes. The mental health aspect was nice and some pieces of it were so so touching but others seemed too on the nose and maybe a little shoehorned for a fantasy book. The amount of spice was way more than I expected and I think the detail and length of the sections was a bit overkill. Overall the story was great, the growth from the characters both personally and within their relationship gave me misty eyes a time or two, and I had a good time listening and reading. However, I do think this book could have been much shorter and may have kept my attention better in the first half. I will say after finishing this one and knowing there isn't one waiting for me does make me excited for the next to come out.
