The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks

5.0

Nicholas Sparks is slowly becoming one of my top favourite authors, and that's something because this is only the second book I have read by him.

His writing is beautiful and emotive, the characters he creates are enjoyable to read about and he explore different types of love, which is something I love. I love the idea of 'First love' in this story, and he tells it so beautifully through the characters of Noah and Allie that it was literally really hard to put down.

As you get nearer the end of the book, Sparks really knows how to tug on your heartstrings and you almost feel the heartbreak Noah experiences for yourself. I absolutely love Noah, he's creative and charming and just generally a sweet character. I like how at the end, cause it mentions in the book that Noah loves reading poetry but always struggled to write his own, however I felt when I got to the end section of the book, where both him and Allie are much older and in a care home, the way it's written in his point of view in this section makes it seem like he finally became a poet he always wanted to be. The narrative viewpoint written in that section is so beautiful and so emotive and creative, so it almost feels like Noah finally became a poet, even if he didn't literally write or publish anything.

I literally adore this book, and it's one that I will definitely read again. Fantastic.
