Whalefall by Daniel Kraus

If you think this book is a survival story you are wrong. Don't think The Martian, think Life of Pi. This is a story of grief and regret and forgiveness, all done inside a whale. It has pieces of the horror genre, adventure genre, coming of age stories, and magical realism. I really did like this book, however there was a point when Jay could have escaped, the message clear, the point made, but then he doesn't and we have to go BACK INSIDE THE WHALE. There is some repetitive pieces, and it is straight up gross in many parts, but I would recommend this. This is absolutely YA and will break your heart, but those are both great reasons to read a book.
