The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

4.0

First time reading: didn't enjoy it and hated the romance
Reread: loved the story, the romance, and everything else
Lesson learned: sometimes rereading books later in life pays off

My second read of this took place in one afternoon. I couldn't put it down because I was glued to the page. It didn't take away from the story that I knew exactly what was going to happen – I loved it anyway. The characters were so interesting and I was so invested in their lives.
Spoiler I'm still mad at Monica too.
I thought the philosophical elements allowed the story to appeal to a wider audience. It didn't just feel like a cheesy YA contemporary because there were so many deep themes! I plan on continuing to reread this book in the future.
