This one was too short! I read this in a day, which is not unusual for me and Ruby Dixon's books, because I devour them, but... It felt so rushed. I am a bit disappointed with this one.
The cause of angst in this book is not amongst the two main leads, their romantic tension, or the obstacles that stop them from resonating, butthe loss of the tribe's home. I don't know how to feel about this. It felt like filler just to get to the worldbuilding moving, and because Maddie has no connection to the world, it feels detached and nonchalant.
I felt like I empathized more with Maddie in the last book, where she was a caring and worried big sister. In this one, she was wallowing and complaining, and then the situation from last book between Lilah and Maddie got reversed. Also, what's up with her blackmailing Georgie and Vektal to get Hassen's exile lifted? Not cool.
The sex is always the best part of these books. Hassen didn't disappoint, he was sweet and dirty when we needed him to be one or the other. But this epilogue was so underwhelming, and there was no honeymoon. Man, this was such a letdown :(
