Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier

5.0

It is so hard to rate this book, especially since my edition borrowed from the library had the Anthony Award Winner Seal and the "Best Novel of the Century" on the cover. When I started, I kept saying "the best?!?!?!" "A century is a very long time". I kept thinking of all the books in the last century that I was sure would be better.

I loved Rebecca! I couldn't stop my mind from closing the book and thinking what old actors I would put in the roles. It was made for film that is for sure. I love old movies and this was perfect for me. This book is filled with psychological symbolism and is so much more than just the words that were written. It absolutely stands the test of time

Best novel of the century - I mean those are some pretty big shoes and they fit - but could you spend the whole night dancing in them? I am not so sure.

I will be adding more Daphne Du Maurier books to my tbr and will now be watching Hitchcock's take on her work.
