I might just need a break from my the author. I have really enjoyed her series but this one I just can’t get into. It’s the same book as the previous series. Maybe not word for word but man there are so many similarities that it’s become monotonous. Here are just some of the HUGE similarities I’ve seen between this series and Cass’ (the series right before this)
Heroine: beyond belief power that she doesn’t know she has, new powers are being received and she has to learn to control them. Prophecy that she will save the world but has to master her powers before the big fight
The Hero: Uber powerful, one of a kind, swoon-worthy looks, shape shifter who is exceedingly rich
Evil Antagonist: don’t know much about this entity except they are out to get the heroine and are super powerful themselves. The Heroine is the only one that can defeat them
Romance: instant connection, like they were made for each other. Trust issues between them. Hero is constantly saving her life and giving comfort
It really is the same plot line. Yes the story itself is different but the big things are the same. I just don’t know if I want to finish the series because it’s just so similar it’s become boring.
So why the 3 stars and not lower. I cannot say enough how much I enjoy this world the author created. I also enjoy the characters (although with this one it’s a little less and the side characters are more interesting to me). Maybe a short break will let me see the books with new eyes.
