This Might Be Too Personal by Alyssa Shelasky

4.0

i knew nothing about alyssa before discovering this book at my local library while looking for a short palate cleanser of a read. in discovering this book and being introduced to alyssa warm little bubble of a world i found vulnerability. i found love in all shapes in forms. i found independence and agency. i found pain and trauma. i love a good personal essay that takes readers on emotional journeys that you know took a lot of space and autonomy for the writer to sit down and admit to an audience. this book is full of journeys like that. is it a groundbreaking book? no not really, yes it covers a lot of feminist issues, but it’s comforting! it feels like being wrapped in a really fuzzy blanket while having a glass of prosecco with a best friend. it left me not wanting to leave her bubble and that’s what good writing should do! it made me so soft and i loved every minute of it!
