The Paper House by Carlos María Domínguez

4.0

Sweet seems like an odd word to attach to a book about overwhelming, life destroying, obsession, but somehow it seems like the world that fits best.
The books cast of eccentrics suffering from various forms of bibilomania - from the just developing, to all consuming madness, to overwhelmingly suicidal - are all well painted, and the plot moves along nicely without any fuss or unnecessary ostentation.
The illustrations are delightful, and adds to the whole slightly otherworldly feel of the book.
Altogether, this is a very nice modern day fable for people who love books (maybe a little bit too much?).
