This book was insane from start to finish. I ended up binge-reading this in a day because I could not put it down!!! Nina can never forgive Maggie for what she's done - this is kept a secret until near the end of the book. In revenge Nina keeps Maggie (mother) locked up in an attic, she is only allowed to leave this week every second night when the two of them dine together. What Nina doesn't know is that everything Maggie has done was to protect her daughter and will keep those secrets even if it kills her. This was my first book by Marrs, and it certainly won't be my last!

From the first few chapters I knew this was going to be a wild ride, it seemed like another plot point was added to up the craziness. This book was so wild and unbelievable. Although Maggie has done some things in her past, I was rooting for her freedom the entire book. I found myself often tense at the situations she was in trying to escape from her daughter. This book deals with some pretty heavy topics, main ones being confinement and abuse - so I would go into this book with a lot of caution.
