A River Enchanted by Rebecca Ross

5.0

this book was type of drug guys all of a sudden I am living on a scottish enchanted isle where the wind carries gossip ?? (so me) and weavers imbed their secrets into plaid ?? & it unravels if the secrets come out ??? IM IN

i did want more of adaira and jack but the uniqueness of the setting and “magic” system, the lore of the spirits, and the mystery of the missing girls was ten stars. i pictured the island so vividly & the twist at the end was unexpected (even though i had anticipated a predictable reveal, it wasn’t at least for me).

my favorite part (though i got a little confused) were the parallels throughout the book. the woman chasing after the gold and then sidra chasing after her daughter, torin then giving their daughter the figurine of lady whin that he got from the woman who chased after the gold (absolutely gagged).

my typical brand of fantasy is super magic based and violent and war-driven (major focus on the politics), so this was a little bit of a deviation. but it was magical and mystical and i felt one with the wind and hills and I loved it
