So i read this book over and over in adolescence and i dont think i can give it less than five stars. I loved this book. The first time i read this it was a revelation.

It has been 10 years since my last reread. Ive changed a lot.

I maybe didnt love it as much this time and that makes me sad.

I noticed little elements of fatphobia that i remember continue on in the series. I feel a bit more distance from the not like other girls attitude of the main character.

I also thought it was a little rushed.

But certain elements if this book are so good. I cried over a death i had forgotten. The fight scenes move so quickly and inventively. I rediscovered side characters that had faded from my mind and i still think LKHs setting descriptions are some of the best out there.

It was mixed. But im not changing my rating. One less than perfect reread out of dozens is still a high bar lol. Young me made her opinion clear.
