The Storyteller: Tales of Life and Music by Dave Grohl

informative lighthearted slow-paced

3.0

I liked listening to the audiobook for Dave’s memoir and I liked having him as the narrator. He comes off like a pleasant and humble famous person. He seems like a very likable dude. I did feel that certain sections of his story, specifically the Nirvana years, were vague. There are probably many legitimate reasons for this, but that was my main interest in reading this book. Even all his time with the Foo Fighters seemed to take a backseat. A big priority for him when writing his memoir must have been to prove to his fans/readers that he is a great dad, though he barely mentioned his wife. This seemed a bit odd to me because he mentioned plenty of past girlfriends, so it was notable. Dave’s met a lot of his music idols and other famous people; apparently every single one of them is simply amazing. He did not write his story in consecutive order, so the time jumps were a bit confusing for me. This book was more of a compilation of major events he’s experienced and less of an in depth look into his life and music.
