Catching Caden by Samantha Christy
3.0
Caden is the star of the New York-based baseball team, the Nighthawks. Murphy is the small town girl in the Big Apple trying to build a modelling career. When Caden's home run ball shatters Murphy's cheekbone at a game, the two unexpectedly build a friendship and become close.
Overall I liked it -the writing and editing was good (one of my real bug bears is reading an e-book littered with mistakes, so thank you!) and the story flowed, even if it was a little predictable.
A couple of things bothered me though
Secondly, it was all a bit borderline incestuous. Of all the millions of people in NYC why do all the siblings in one family have to marry all the siblings in another family? And a mother from one family getting with a father from one of the others? It's weird.
I also disliked that, in order for Caden and Shane to reconcile, they had to paint Caden's dead mother in a bad light. As a single parent this irked me slightly. The hints about Lexi going missing bothered me too. Why did she disappear? Where did she go? What happened? Why include it in the story if it's not going to be expanded upon?
However, that said, it was a quick, easy and predictable read which is exactly what I wanted at the time and at least the main characters were likeable.

Spoiler
- firstly, how little self respect all of Murphy's housemates had for themselves that they were all sleeping with a glory-hunting IT guy. They're models for chrissakes, Tony really didn't sound special enough to warrant them all fighting over him. I know they were created to be dislikeable but it was a little far fetched.Secondly, it was all a bit borderline incestuous.
