The Apartment: A Horror Story (Blumhouse Books) by S.L. Grey

5.0

This book’s uber-creepy matt black cover with a glistening gold key and inverted Eiffel Tower perfectly encapsulates a gripping tale of grief, paranoia and increasing psychological terror. For me this book was a fantastic ride –akin to watching a moreish Hollywood thriller (I was delighted to learn that Stephen Spielberg had acquired the movie rights).
I loved the ‘Gone Girl-esque’ narrative switching between the two protagonists giving the reader an insight into not only that individual’s interpretation of events but an insight in to an increasingly fractious marriage. This book has a strong supernatural element that won’t appeal to everyone but I found it to be the ultimate in compulsive escapism!
