Night Shift by Nora Roberts

3.0

Cilla O'Roake loves her job as a late night radio DJ until a man begins to call in and threaten her on air. She wants to dismiss the man as just a crank caller but when things begin to escalate her station manager calls in the police. Detective Boyd Fletcher and his partner Althea Grayson are called in to do the initial investigation but things become more serious as the man continues to call and harass Cilla, even going so far as to leaving threatening messages at Cilla’s home. At first Cilla doesn’t take the caller seriously but when the caller starts threatening her home she is more willing to work with detectives so she can keep her younger sister, Deborah safe. The loss of her parents and raising Deborah has left Cilla very closed off to any personal relationship, but especially with a cop. Boyd is attractive and very attracted to Cilla. He takes her harassment case and her safety very seriously. Boyd is consistent in his pursuit of Cilla, showing her that he is a man she can rely on and let behind her walls. This story is all about trust and vulnerability in relationships.
