"As you got older, you developed your independence, but I never felt like you stopped needing me. I’m so grateful for that. It’s a bittersweet thing to see your child become self-sufficient, and it’s easy to slip into irrelevance. But that never happened with us. Even when you were technically older than me and arguably wiser, I never stopped feeling important to you. And you never stopped being important to me. I’ve gotten nearly everything I’ve wanted in this life, much of it thanks to you. My extraordinary girl. My best friend."

Reading it for book club, and wow.... what to say to this. I wasn't sure I was going to like it but it took me by surprise in the best way. Every year Oona leaped to it kept me wondering and kept me in suspense at every decision she had to make, the easy ones and the not so easy ones. To put it short, I really enjoyed this :)

"But I get it now. You weren’t adding chaos to my life. You were adding color.”
