‘Her mouth tightens. “Have you no more memories?”
I am made of memories.
“Speak, then.” ‘ - Page 366
This book was some kind of beautiful. The pacing was good - the story ebbed and flowed in a wave-like manner, with strong arcs and poetic lulls. What an epic tragedy!!!
The storyline - though carefully put together and based on years of research into the mythology - was wholly unique and special and so fresh.
I loved Patroclus, so ordinary and yet, fated to experience great and dangerous things in his lifetime.
And Achilles, his pride and introspection and air of importance and ease, was presented in the most fascinating way.
Madeline Miller has now become an auto buy author after loving both of her novels and wanting so much more of this prose in my life!
