I use a lot of adjectives when I write these review notes that I worry may seem hyperbolic, but this truly was stunning. Newson's sheer mastery of prose and narrative to hold a novel of such scope and such specific humanity, while articulating the pain, anger, outrage, and infinitudes of hope necessary for carrying on acting through such systemic extinction attempts is extraordinary. I don't think I'll be able to stop thinking about this book for quite some time.
