The way that these books would be so much better if there wasn’t so many casually thrown around racial slurs? I get it was the early 2000s and the south but like that’s no excuse? You can say that people haven’t seen each other in a while without using the phrase c**n’s age. Like just say I haven’t seen you in ages or something? It’s that fucking simple?!?!? It’s also just making me realise how good of an adaptation the show is by making the cast more diverse and not killing off Lafayette in the beginning of this book/second season, cos like what the hell was that. Also having like only one minor black woman character in the orgy scene, and all we know about her is that she was a cafeteria lady, and then she’s just objectified, is somehow complicit in the death of Lafayette and killed by the Maenad? Who is also incredibly racist for no reason?!?? Ok I was going to give it a 2.75 for being fun but the more I think about it I’m lowering it to 2.25.
