This was a super warm and cozy book! There were definitely many moments that I just wanted to hug some of the characters due to what they had gone through or just out of love for them. The way magic is represented is super fun too . Since it appears to be set in modern Britain, the required world building was minimal but the author did a great job of pulling you in and explaining why there are Rules for behavior of witches, even when Mika doesn't understand their purpose
I loved Mika and her narration throughout. She definitely has her own trauma and emotional baggage that she's been lugging around, and it was cool to see her grow through the relationships she found at Nowhere House.
The main cast is rather diverse in age, race, and sexuality, which is great to see in a book as well!
