On Higher Ground by Melissa Collins

4.0

Just like book 1, On Higher Ground has Dax and Beck going through several ups and downs as they find their footing individually and together in their relationship. They have a bit of a rough go of it as they try to take their relationship to the next level but they work well together to get through their struggles.

Dax is still struggling to get through the PTSD although the point of the nightmares has changed a bit. His work at the VA and with the service dogs leads him to a couple of major epiphanies which helps him get through a couple of major low times. He pretty much comes full circle by the end and is stronger than ever.

Beck’s struggles still have to do with his family. We discover his life as a child was pretty miserable as more details are uncovered. We see him go alpha and possessive with Dax which was pretty hot. He becomes a more solid rock for Dax to lean on and also realizes how much he needs Dax to get through some of his issues.

It seems like there might be a follow up story with a side character as there are still some unanswered questions with him. That would be another emotional read as there is some major tension with him.

This is a great continuation of their story and a must read if you loved book 1 as I did.
