I resisted this book because there was so much hype, but honestly, I loved it. I know there's been a great deal o controversy (esp. about the movie) but I didn't feel like it was a story about a white woman swooping in to save the black community. I thought it was about an incredibly brave and strong black community who had endured the unimaginable who used the resources this white woman had to give voice to their stories so the rest of the world could hear.
