Girlhood by Melissa Febos

4.0

This book was a hug. This book was a sad memory. I was comforted to read that I was not alone but saddened that these experiences are so universal to women. How many times have I felt uncomfortable in public, cautious in the privacy of my home. How many times that I felt that because I was a woman the world was built against me. Too many. And even after reading this and feeling the solidarity of girlhood, I still had a very what it’s like to be a woman moment I hated a few days later. It sucked. Some would say how does a book change that but I hope slowly it does which is why I hope everyone reads a book like this in their lifetime.
