Austenland by Shannon Hale

5.0

I read this in 5 hours in one sitting and thought it was absolutely charming! I felt like the whole idea of vacationing in a real Austenland was absolutely enchanting. Then the more I followed the main character the more I realized I was also obsessed with Jane Austen in a way that connected me to character maybe too closely. Not just Austen but Victorian literature since Wuthering Heights was also mentioned. I also loved the Mr. Darcy character who they call Mr. Nobely and how he brought Darcy's sullen irritability to a new light which I felt was more realistic. I definitely recommend this book for the Austen-ites as a good book that doesn't shame Austen's original stories.
