Gettysburg: The Last Invasion by Allen C. Guelzo

3.0

I have to admit at the outset of the review that I am a little burnt out on Civil War topics and that definitely affected my opinion of the book as I listened. The rather dull narrator did not help in this regard either. I also did not pay as close attention to this book as I should have to give it the review it deserves.
Personally, I think that here were too many details. I got a bit lost in them. The fact that this is primarily a book of military history also (for me) works against it.
I did enjoy the ending which was focused on the Gettysburg Address. I don't understand why the author felt compelled to used "tall man" instead of Abraham Lincoln. I thought it was just too much.
If you are interested in the Civil War and military history, this is definitely the book for you.
