I enjoyed this book even though it wasn't as urban as I was expecting. I think the expectation should be a bit less Dresden and more His Dark Materials (at least that would have aligned my own personal expectations better). There is a fair amount of intriguing worldbuilding between all the different types of magic wielders and demons, and even though I don't enjoy the exposition-heavy focus that such worldbuilding usually entails, I was entertained learning the lore. This is in no short part due to the loveable duo of Bex and Adrian, though I would say Bex has much more of the spotlight. The worldbuilding and low stakes nature of the job made the first half drag a bit, but the second half was a breeze to get through. The characters and lore made the book for me, and I might check out the sequel.
